about us

OUR VISION

We are striving to transform our property from a blank canvas into a really productive farm. One that generates an abundance of different types of food - fruits, nuts, vegetables, herbs, spices, bush tucker, meats and eggs. We want to share this food directly with others and grow it in a way that’s better for us (in terms of flavour and health) and better for the planet. By necessity we will be starting small with things like our own Wagyu-Angus beef (when it is available … beef is seasonal too!); plus garnishes, herbs and any vegetables or fruits that we have sufficient of to serve or transform into preserves. Over time we will progressively increase and diversify our on-farm production and integration with our restaurant. We’ll be transparent with how we are tracking with our vision and share our trials and tribulations in making it happen. Wish us luck!

OUR IMPACT

So far we have initiated a program of rotational cell-grazing for our small herd of Angus-Wagyu cattle. We have also planted over 3,500 new trees on our farm - a mix of original Big Scrub rainforest species, other natives, fruits and ornamentals. These have been planted within our food forest orchard and market garden; as well as around the property - including a large riparian zone regeneration project conducted collaboratively with Landcare and Big Scrub Regeneration. We've composted over 10,000 liters of food scraps, we've increased the diversity and soil biology 40 acres of pasture by planting 8 new species with inoculated seed, we've planted two new 100 meter food forest tree rows containing 100 trees and shrubs of diverse species in each row, and we've expanded our market garden from four 20 meter rows to a quarter of an acre. We are at the very beginning of our journey in trying to create a farm-to-table dining experience - a journey that we are so excited to be making!

OUR STORY

When we first moved to the country we bought a big ginger pig and called her Frida. We’d never bred pigs before but we knew we wanted to give it a go. We wanted to live close to nature, we wanted to grow our own food, we wanted to spend our time doing the things we truly love, and we wanted to share this with others. Frida was our first step towards following our dream - a dream which keeps on growing!
